- The Inseparable Bond Between Femininity and Spirituality

There is something we really need to talk about. It’s important. It’s about the connection between femininity and spirituality, one cannot exist without the other.
This is not to say anything about men and their spirituality, because the same truth applies to them, just in a different way. No, this is for us women, for how we connect with our deepest and highest self, as well as our most significant source of energy while in human form: Femininity.
One of the clearest and safest paths into your feminine essence is through learning to trust your ‘SELF’.
Your ‘SELF’, as in your soul, the unspoiled part of who you are, here in physical form. The part of you that knows everything about you; where you come from and where you are meant to go (and when you are off track).
You are not your fears. You are not your ego, which has been shaped by wounds and survival. You are not the limitations the world has placed upon you.
You are of God. You are directly connected to Source. That is your true identity.
A Legacy of Feminine Power
For centuries, even millennia, women have been channels of divine wisdom. Known as oracles, seeresses, or vølver(in Danish) / vǫlur (in Old Norse).
In Norse tradition, a vǫlva was a wise woman, a spiritual guide, and a keeper of prophecy. She practiced seiðr, a sacred form of magic associated with fate-weaving and influencing reality. She traveled between communities, offering her visions and wisdom, often in exchange for gifts or hospitality. She was respected but also feared, as she had access to hidden knowledge and the power to shape fate.
The vǫlva was not part of an organized priesthood—she was an independent practitioner, sometimes working alongside rulers and warriors, guiding them with her prophetic insight. In Norse sagas, she was the one who foretold the course of battles and destinies.
A Word is Just a Word But Your Power is Real
There is no exact English translation that fully captures the essence of the vǫlva. The closest terms would be:
Seeress – A woman who has visions of the future.
Prophetess – A woman who delivers divine messages.
Shaman – A spiritual guide who bridges the seen and unseen worlds.
Witch – A word often misused, but with some overlap in magical abilities.
As a woman of the North, I feel deeply connected to the vǫlva’s legacy. It grounds me in my roots, aligns me with the wisdom of my ancestors, and empowers me daily.
Which term resonates most deeply with you?
That is what truly matters. Maybe you identify as clairvoyant, empathic, or something else entirely. The label is not important, the connection is.
Embodying the Wisdom of the Vǫlva in Modern Life
For me, embracing the spirit of the vǫlva means:
Listening to my intuition.
Moving with the rhythms of nature and being in nature.
Honoring my feminine energy without fear.
I also resonate with the prophetess, the seeress, the shaman, and the witch—depending on the moment, the energy, and what I am called to do. Whether I am guiding a session, teaching, holding a retreat, or creating content, I move between these aspects of myself.
The vǫlva connects me to the earth and my human nature.
The prophetess connects me to God and divine messages.
The shaman emerges in my healing sessions.
The seeress symbolizes my clairvoyant abilities.
Yet the vǫlva is my anchor - Rooted in my land, my lineage, my body.
She is with me on my walks in nature, my ocean dives and when I connect with the history of my country and ancestors.
Simple Ways to Awaken Your Spiritual Connection
• Which word(s) do you feel drawn to, and why?
• How does that energy live within you?
• What does it feel like in your body?
To start your day connected to your feminine, you might ask:
"How does my feminine essence speak to me, and what does she want me to be aware of today?"
- A good way to do this is by writing it down somewhere, like in a journal. It's fun to have to, later on, see your progress.
Remember: "Feeling better precedes thinking better." – Steve & Pauline Richards
We cannot think our way into a connection with our true self. We must feel it.
The more we connect with our true essence, the softer, stronger, and more magnetic we become. When we embrace receptivity, we naturally invite the presence of healthy, masculine energy into our lives. The deeper we soften into our feminine receptivity, the more deeply the masculine can show up as the giver he naturally is.
